The key to our success is that we love what we do. Talk to our techs or project managers, and you will see them light up (literally) when talking about apertures, lumens and watts. We eat and breathe this stuff and we love nothing more than when we share one of our stages, lighting or designs with an audience.
Jeff started PDA in 1991 in a small garage with a handful of lights. He began his lighting career at the age of 14, lighting his parent’s house for Halloween. Since then, he has since lit bridges, aircraft carriers, Presidents and hundreds of events. Jeff has lived in Charleston his entire life and he can’t imagine being anywhere else. He enjoys boating, traveling to remote places, and shooting fireworks with his family when he’s not working. He still lights his house up for Halloween every year.
Coming to PDA with a solid music background, extensive administration experience and an MBA in hand, Vicki joined the team as General Manager in 2015. Originally from California, she moved to the Charleston area with her family after college. In her spare time Vicki plays the electric violin, loves to paint, travel the world and, most recently, go on extensive bike tours with her extended family.
Scott is the Controller (i.e.: he handles all of the finances) at PDA since June of 2007. He started out in accounting at a forklift company so he’s overcome any fears of being around big equipment all day before coming to PDA. He is a 1994 graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Financial Management and earned an M.B.A. from The Citadel in 2005. His hobbies include spending time with his family and playing basketball and breaking away whenever he can to watch Clemson football games.
Tom started at PDA in 1998 but he’s lived in Charleston since 1981 when he was in the Navy as a Missile Technician onboard submarines specializing in electronic, electro-mechanical and hydraulic & pneumatic systems. Tom has also been a DJ for over 30 years which came in handy at PDA since he has designed and installed numerous high profile A/V Systems in well-known clubs. Tom has also completed Repair Certification Programs from Martin Lighting, Jem Smoke Machine and Pioneer as a factory authorized repair technician. We’re assuming not many people can say that!
Charlie grew up in Hartsville, SC and moved to Charleston in 2002. He first started at PDA in January of 2007. In May of 2007 he graduated from The College of Charleston with a degree in Business Administration. After two years away from Charleston, he returned in 2009 and since has worked in many different roles for PDA. He works as a tech in the field, assists in warehouse operations, and is the company’s carpenter extraordinaire.
As a former manager and owner of his own production company servicing organizations in the upstate, Jeff’s experience is well suited for the corporate hotel world. He came to PDA with a strong technical and sales background and has extensive experience in client relations. Jeff’s sense of style in eyewear is only exceeded by his sense of humor.
Jeff has worn many hats in his many years at PDA but always keeps in mind that customer service is job #1 (if you’re a customer reading this now, how can I help you?). He enjoys live music and long walks on the beach, in no particular order. He has by far the worst selection of music on his iPod and punishes his fellow workers by singing to it at full volume. He has used his many jobs at PDA to turn himself into a well-rounded and proficient project manager.
Hunter started at PDA in 2006 as an Installation Technician and then quickly moved up to become a Project Manager. He now manages the Video Department and is dedicated to taking care of his clients. Hunter is often found on the local waterways, boating, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
Scott came to PDA with an extensive background in lighting, and light design. Besides being a Project Manager, he is the in-house expert in 3D renderings and drawings. Scott is also PDA’s resident break dancer (but only at Christmas time!)
Mike was born and raised in Plymouth, Ma. He moved to Charleston in 2003, and has been a member of the PDA team since 2006. When he’s not working in the PDA warehouse, Mike enjoys baseball, golf, and pretty much anything outdoors.
Alex is one of PDA’s Lead Technician with a specialty in all things audio. He has a great deal of experience handling large and small shows for corporate, hotel and private events. When not tinkering with consoles or subwoofers, or working as a lighting or video technician (he’s an all-around!), Alex spends time with his wife and children.
Chuck is a Lead Technician and formerly worked at PDA in a part-time capacity for several years. He has worked in lighting, audio, and video and is “learning the ropes” on the technical aspects of rigging. Chuck is known for his quick wit, ability to capture comical shots of crew members during shows and digging for lost pieces of gear in the ball pit.
Formerly PDA’s in-house technician at the North Charleston Convention Center, Dave has moved into the Lead Lighting Technician position. He originally started working with PDA in 2004 and has worked in the audio, video, lighting and design departments, as well as CAD rendering. Dave is also a talented musician and plays keyboards in a local band.
Davonte, or “D” as we call him, is part of PDA’s technical staff at the North Charleston Convention Center. Previously, Davonte worked in area churches where he led the audio/visual teams. When he’s not laying cable in the ballroom or setting up a mic in one of the meeting rooms, Davonte is home enjoying life with his young and growing family.
Tom will be thinking and working outside of the box (road case?) to develop new business for PDA. He has over 20 years of sales and management experience in the tourism and hospitality industry in and around the Charleston area. In addition to outside sales, Tom has worked at Kiawah, Francis Marion and Wyndham Garden in corporate sales.
