PDA Teams Up With CNN on Election Day

On Election Day, PDA was busy voting and working. Our team was stationed with CNN in Romney’s and Obama’s headquarter cities, Boston and Chicago.

We helped CNN, in conjunction with GoVision and Sound Mind events out of Texas, construct two large LED walls at Fanueil Hall in Boston and Thompson Center Plaza in Chicago. These walls were shown during CNN’s live broadcast on election night.

Set-up at Fanueil Hall in Boston:

Construction of the 34′ x 20′ LED walls:

LED walls up-and-running before the live broadcast:

In Boston, we constructed a 34’x20’ 8mm LED wall that weighs 10,000 pounds and is one of the highest resolution LED walls made. It is supported by a 48’x24’x36’ tall structure. In Chicago, we constructed a 33’x19’ trailer mounted LED wall that is internally built into a 48’ semi trailer that weighs 62,500 pounds.

Blazin’ the Campaign Trail

The 2012 presidential election has kept PDA busy! Working on the campaign trail is always an exciting opportunity for our team. Earlier this year, PDA played a role in the presidential primary race with countless production jobs.

As the election nears, we’ve been traveling all around the East Coast providing production support for the potential candidate’s rallies, speeches and events. Most notably we were given the opportunity to work on the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and with Romney/Ryan on their rallies.

PDA = opportunity event producer.

PDA was hired by Total Events Production in Charlotte to help with the official press kick-off party for the 2012 DNC. The event was held for 10,000 members of the press and their guests at the NC Music Factory. We were hired to design the lighting for three different rooms in the film studio building. PDA provided trussing and a lighting console for the main room, conventional fixtures, lighting programming and operation.

Before the event began, we experienced a torrential downpour that caused major flooding, but the show went on without any technical glitches!

PDA has also been on the road with the Romney campaign. Throughout the month we’ve worked with his camp on gigs for Paul Ryan across the Southeast. Our crew recently traveled to Greenville and Virginia, providing audio, lighting, power distribution, press support and staging for its nationally televised coverage.

Having worked on major political events over the last 20 years, we always strive to produce flawless events and maintain our reputation as South Carolina’s leading political production team.

Live from Outdoor Retailer

The PDA Video team arrived in Salt Lake City for the Outdoor Retailer Show and began our production schedule.

Our first shoot was at Snowbasin Resort in Odgen  where we covered the Outdoor Retailer on Mountain Demo.  This event allows retailers and buyers to test the latest products in  actual mountain conditions.

It was a great day on the hill.  Inbetween shoots our team managed to pile into the gondola and leave our tracks on the hill.

From here we take the crew inside the Salt Palace Convention Center and begin shooting Live from OR; in-booth interviews with gear manufacturers.

Some of the brands on our production calendar include Wolverine, Teva, Gore-Tex, Woolrich, Wenger, Carhart and Columbia. More to come!

PDA Video: Outdoor Retailer Update

PDA Video got hired to shoot some gear profile segments from the show floor of Summer Outdoor Retailer 2009. We were stoked to have professional kayaker, philantrhopist and Cosmo’s 2008 Bachelor of the Year Brad Ludden as our host. We turned around a set of high quality HD videos in record time thanks to the hard work of Chuck Heilig, who shot and edited each piece. You can check them out here: Live From OR . Check out some awesome photos from the event taken by Tim McManus: Online Gallery .
