Charleston Fashion Week

For the past 6 years, our cameras have been trained on the models and designers that send the latest trends down the Charleston Fashion Week runway. What started as a small local event has grown into, according to Southern Living Magazine, “the most significant fashion event in the South.” It has been a great ride watching this growth.

This year was certainly the most exciting to be a part of.

Here are some of the recap videos:

From the emerging designer contest to the rock the runway competition to the featured designer shows to the esteemed VIP fashion industry guest list, we were tasked to tell the stories of these individuals through video. All told we produced the following for CFW:

- 2013 Commercial
- 2013 Promo Video
- Rock The Runway Contest Preview
- Emerging Designer Contest Preview
- 21 Emerging Designer Videos
- Rock the Runway intro piece
- 7 Featured Designer Intros
- 6 Behind the Style videos

It is the Behind the Style videos where we are able to show off what we can do as a video team and I am proud of what we pulled off.

Each night we captured the event through three cameras and turned our footage over to Victoria Mele, our Senior Editor. From there she crafted each night’s shows and our interviews into a recap video that is closer to a documentary short than anything else.

It was great to interview industry insiders like Fern Mallis, Christian Siriano, Cynthia Rowley and Karen Lee but it was telling the stories of the Emerging Designers, particularly Afriyie Poku that was most rewarding. When he showed his final collection to a packed house on Saturday night the crowd erupted in applause….it was rewarding to know that our video work helped play a part in his dreams coming true.

It’s Electric

At the onset of Charleston Fashion Week I am always taken by the event team’s ability to deliver fresh looks year after year. I have to say that this year is my favorite yet. Clean lines, great visuals, unique video elements – all focused on the art and artists. You will even see music video style designer profiles edited with custom DJ tracks. They have really put the rock in fashion this year.

Last night’s kickoff was highly entertaining and the standing room only crowd was electrified. With the Style Lounge and bar services in a separate tent this year, all of the main tent’s energy is directed at what is happening on the stage. And there is a lot to see. Each night this week has a great draw, so you will not be disappointed if you plan to go every night. Tonight’s featured designer is Project Runway’s Mychael Night. Check the CFW schedule for more lowdown.

PDA is proud to provide Charleston Fashion Week with technical event production and video production services.

Stellar Premiere for Charleston Fashion Week

A Who’s Who night for the Charleston fashion world. They all came out last week to the fabulous Terrace Hippodrome for the Charleston Fashion Week 2009 Documentary Premiere produced by PDA Video. The documentary boasted an artful glimpse into the five-day event, with peaks at the rarely seen backstage areas, interviews with the people that make it all happen, designer profiles and much, much more. Following the premiere, the party moved to the lovely new patio at Shine for an evening of fabulous food along with cocktails from Gentleman Jack and Grey Goose.

Congratulations to Charleston Magazine for another cutting-edge project. Stay tuned for details on the documentary release.
